Plans & Pricing
JustFoodForDogs knows that no two dogs—and no two dog owners—are alike. That’s why they offer a wide variety of recipes and proteins to choose from, several meal types ranging from fresh frozen to shelf-stable to DIY, and a variety of delivery options—they’ll ship your dog’s food directly to your door or they’ll send it to your local pet store for pickup. They also offer customers a choice between subscription plans and one-time shipments, too.
With so many options on the table, plus the fact that some dogs require more food than others, the price of JustFoodForDogs food can vary greatly from dog to dog. A small box (just under eight pounds/seven, 18-ounce packages) of many of their Fresh Frozen recipes typically costs less than $70, while a large box (31.5 pounds/seven, 72-ounce packages) will typically run a little more than $200. This means little if you don’t know how many ounces per day your dog should be eating. That’s why the company offers a helpful feeding calculator on their website that can help dog parents get more precise pricing. We entered information for our 90-pound, seven-year-old Golden Retriever and found out he should eat 24 ounces per day of the recommended recipe. That would bring the cost to around $10 per day, which is on par with what other fresh dog food companies would charge for a similarly sized dog.
As for shipping, it’s free for all subscription orders. For standard, non-subscription orders, the flat rate shipping fee is $10 for orders that do not meet the following free shipping thresholds:
- Frozen meals: Free shipping on orders over $99
- Dry Goods (DIY Nutrient Blends, supplements, treats, merchandise): Free shipping on orders over $49
How It Works
Ordering fresh food from JustFoodForDogs is a simple, straightforward process. You’ll start by filling out a series of questions about your dog, like her breed, weight, allergies and medical issues, current diet and health goals. Based on your responses, they’ll recommend a recipe as well as an appropriate serving size for your pup. From there, you’ll decide if you’d like a one-time shipment or a subscription, and if you’d like the food sent to your home or a local pet store for pickup. Then you’ll enter your delivery preferences, shipping and payment information.
Your fresh frozen food will be shipped to your home in an insulated box packed with dry ice—or, if you opted to have it sent to one of their approved pet store pickup locations, in a bag with frozen gel packs. The easiest way to feed your dog is to get into a cycle of freezer to refrigerator to bowl. As mealtime approaches, simply remove the package from the freezer and defrost it in the refrigerator or immerse it in cold water. You can store the defrosted food in the refrigerator in a glass or plastic container and then, when it’s time to eat, serve the recommended amount.
If you opt for a JustFoodForDogs subscription, they’ll ship you new boxes on a regular basis to ensure you never run out.
If you or your dog don’t like JustFoodForDogs, you can simply contact the company and they will provide a refund within 30 days of the original purchase of the product.
The Food
The JustFoodForDogs meals are the only food for dogs proven healthy by the scientific community. Year-long (humane!) feeding trials have shown that their recipes promote proper immune system health, and digestibility studies revealed that their food is up to 40 percent more digestible when compared to similar studies that looked into kibble.
All of their meals are made by hand using premium, fresh, whole-food ingredients like human-grade meats and vegetables, and are available fresh frozen, optimally preserving their nutritional content. Each daily dog food also include proprietary nutrient blends to balance the meal.
Here’s a taste of some of the pup-pleasing meals in their Fresh Frozen product line:
- Chicken & White Rice
- Turkey & Whole Wheat Macaroni
- Fish & Sweet Potato
- Venison & Squash
- Beef & Russet Potato
- Lamb & Brown Rice
They also offer seasonal specials that often include novel proteins.
In addition to their Fresh Frozen meals, JustFoodForDogs also offers:
- Vet Support meals: Veterinarian-prescribed meals to support well-being
- Pantry Fresh meals: Daily Meals available in shelf-stable packaging
- DIY Homemade: Recipes for their nutritionally balanced meals that you can make at home
- Custom Diets: Vet formulated meals tailored to your pets unique needs
- Treats, supplements and variety packs

My dog is such a picky eater but LOVES the meals here. The staff have REALLY helped me figure out what's best for her, they took the time and patience to answer all my questions and go through her past food habits to see what she would love the most. The beef and potato meal is her fave. Also The place itself is also so nice and clean my dog is clearly spoiled.

I finally took the plunge after the vet told me (AGAIN) that Marvin needed to lose weight. These folks aren't kidding about the two weeks to change your dog's life. Marvin has already lost some of the weight he needs to lose AND, he really does seem more energetic and happier. I'm happy that I gave them a try and even happier that I feel like I made a positive change in Marvin's life!

I rarely write reviews but I just had to for this food. Our 14-year old, 14 lb (a little overweight) dog was healthy, and we had been giving him Orijen kibble (high end kibble) for most of his life. But every time we had his bloodwork panel done at the vet, his liver ALT levels were slightly raised. Normal ALT liver values are between 12- 118, and his was always 226.Every time. The vet said it wasn't high enough to worry about, but since he's getting older we decided to switch to JFFD. After four months on this food, his liver ALT VALUES WENT FROM 226 TO 86! Our vet was amazed. His eyes no longer weep, the fur on his arms and legs, which had gotten sparse in old age, suddenly started growing long and shiny, and he no longer chews his paws. He went from14 lbs down to 12.5 lbs, which is the perfect weight for him. His energy is through the roof...at 14 years old! I've always liked the idea of fresh food vs kibble, but honestly, I never expected it to have such a huge impact on his overall health. The food itself looks delicious, and even the fish recipe (which we use), doesn't even smell that fishy (or really at all). Wow. Amazing. Try this if you can.
