Plans & Pricing
Open Farm is available as a one-time purchase or as a subscription service. If you choose the latter, you’ll be able to select the frequency of your deliveries (Bonus: you’ll also enjoy a discount—five percent at the time of this review). Subscription orders can be changed, paused or cancelled anytime, making this option completely risk-free. Regardless of the plan you select, shipping is free for orders over $50. If your order is less than $50, you’ll pay a flat rate shipping fee of $5.99.
The price you’ll pay for your Open Farm dog food is heavily dependent on the type of food and the recipes you select. For example, those who are taking advantage of their subscription service may pay $18.99 for a 14-pound bag of dry food, and just over $80 for an eight-pound bag of their gently cooked wet food. They also offer a variety of reasonably priced meal toppers, supplements and treats, which can be used to enhance a dog’s current diet and enable pet parents to keep costs low.
Open Farm is very transparent about their pricing, so you can simply visit their website for a full list of food options and their cost.
How it Works
Ordering Open Farm is a painless process that involves selecting the food type and the recipe you want, as well as the amount of food you’d like to receive. You can choose between a one-time order or a subscription. If you choose the latter, you’ll be able to choose your shipping frequency. From there, you’ll simply enter your payment and shipping information, then stand by for your delivery.
All orders are shipped via FedEx, and they’ll typically arrive within one to four business days. If you ordered food that requires refrigeration, like their gently cooked meals, they will be shipped frozen to preserve freshness.
Once it’s time to feed your favorite four-legged friend, you’ll follow their simple feeding instructions to portion out the right amount of food. Their serving recommendations are based on each dog’s weight and activity level, so you can be sure your pup is getting the precise nutrition and calories she needs.
If you’re overwhelmed by the number of Open Farm meals available (there are a lot!), you’ll be happy to know that they offer a helpful tool to help you find the best option for your canine companion. It’s a questionnaire that asks for information like your dog’s age, weight, breed, activity level and allergies in order to determine the food type and recipe that is best.
The Food
All Open Farm recipes are formulated with the support of nutrition, animal science and food manufacturing experts, including an Animal Nutritionist and a PhD Food Scientist.
The recipes are formulated to meet the nutritional levels established by AAFCO, and all of their food and treats are tested by third party accredited labs for nutritional content, pathogens, heavy metals and other contaminants, to ensure they satisfy the strictest nutritional and food safety standards.
Open Farm meticulously chooses and sources every ingredient they use—everything comes from the most humane and ethical farms, fisheries and producers. Every provider they work with is continually audited to ensure they meet the highest safety and quality standards. They use 100 percent humanely raised, antibiotic- and growth hormone-free meats, wild-caught and sustainably sourced fish, plus nutrient-dense, non-GMO veggies and superfoods. There are no antibiotics or growth hormones, or artificial flavors or fillers in their foods. All of their Rustic Stews, Rustic Blends, Gently Cooked and Bone Broth Recipes include human grade ingredients and are made in a human grade facility. (Their Dry, Freeze Dried Raw and Treat recipes cannot be labeled “human grade” simply because they are produced in a pet food facility—the ingredients in these are just as high quality as their other recipes).
And, since Open Farm knows that pets have different needs throughout their life, they offer a wide variety of recipes and meal types to suit all life stages. They offer single protein recipes that are great for dogs with allergies, soft meal formats for senior dogs with dental or digestive issues, and supplements and toppers for pups who need a nutrient boost, for example.
Here’s a taste of the different types of dog food offered by Open Farm:
- Dry Food: Nutrient-dense dry food that is high-meat, low-carb and packed with flavor.
- Rustic Stews: 100 percent human grade wet dog food made with ethically sourced meat.
- Freeze Dried Raw: High protein freeze dried dog food made with protein from raw animal ingredients, mixed with organic fruits and vegetables.
- Gently Cooked: Human grade meals and mixers cooked at the right temperature to maximize nutrition.

10/10, our favourite dog food! Recipe is exactly what we want. Freeze dried, good, healthy food. I want to know that I’m feeding my dog healthy, nutritious food. It’s important to know what we put in our body, same with them! I also love the freeze dried raw toppers. We use them as treats. I love that you can see green and different colours in there. They actually look like real food! It’s nice to mix it up with different flavours too. We will once our puppy is a bit older, but nice to give different nutrients. I also adore that they ship to my door. Would never buy dog food anywhere else!

Best. Dog. Food. Ever! I have tried many types of dog food for my dogs. I have three large dogs, one with major digestive issues and another one that is chronically ill. The fillers in most dog foods that I have tried have caused problems with yeast infections, digestive issues, and skin issues. Since switching to this brand, these things in my dogs are disappearing after years and years. It makes a difference what you put into your body as a person, and the same thing i The fillers in most dog foods that I have tried have caused problems with yeast infections, digestive issues, and skin issues. Since switching to this brand, these things in my dogs are disappearing after years and years. It makes a difference what you put into your body as a person, and the same thing goes for our furbabies. I love also how everything is ethically sourced, no GMO’s, no fillers, no pesticides… The list is kind of headless about the good things about this food. Additionally, I absolutely love the low carbon footprint and the locally sourced meat and produce. The price may be a bit higher than what I am used to but it is worth every penny. Might I add, the customer service is seriously outstanding. These people care about you individually as a customer and that is beyond refreshing. Thank you Open-Farm!! I highly recommend this company to anyone with a fur baby in their life. They get it, and they care.

The Best Food For My Babies. Open Farm kibble for dogs has changed life for me. I have 2 small dogs and they love Open Farm meals. One of my puppies is 14 years old and feeding was such a big ordeal twice a day. Sometimes it would take up to an hour to get him finished eating. Now with Open Farm kibble and broth, he eats it right up and wants more. The same with my other puppy. She absolutely loves her food. I feel completely wonderful feeding them Open Farm. I would not purchase any other brand. I trust Open Farm and I am so grateful I have found this wonderful food.
